A 26-year study looking to discover what happens when a star passes by a black hole has been concluded recently by a team of scientist working in partnership with the European Southern Observatory (ESO), in Chile. The drug company Biogen recently reported promising results on an experimental Alzheimer’s drug and experts seemed confident that the solution to the mind-robbing disease is just around the corner following years of failure in developing a cure. The Cambridge-based Biogen worked together with Tokyo-based Eisai Co. and released data from a study that showed a high dose of their experimental drug removed a type of protein in the brain commonly found in Alzheimer’s patients and slows their memory and causes problem to their way of thinking. The drug is called BAN2401 and investors questioned the drug’s potential to be developed as a commercial medication.

After revealing the study details at the Alzheimer’s Association International conference in Chicago, the two pharmaceutical companies’ stock prices dropped. Cautious optimism was expressed by doctors not involved with the study, nevertheless. The director of Phoenix-based Banner Alzheimer’s Institute said that it is difficult to interpret the treatment’s clinical consequences due to complicated design and statistics. The drug trial bears encouraging results but those are not definitive by any means, he added. The percentage of beta amyloid, the protein present in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients, is significantly reduced in patients who took BAN2401 in is highest doses through IV twice a month.

Amazon Rekognition, software for facial recognition sold online, is claimed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to have inaccurately recognized several lawmakers and that the software might pose threats to civil rights. This charge, obviously, has been denied by Amazon. Rekognition is marketed as a tool to provide facial analysis that is extremely accurate using video and photos.

He argued that Amazon does not try to ask the users of the software what they are using the tool for. He also said that changes in the threshold in question would lead to changes in the danger. In the hands of government, he claimed, technology of face surveillance is bound to be abused and this is where concerns for civil rights may stem from.

For the first time, scientists are able to map ocean wilderness areas across the globe. By wilderness, it refers to marine areas where human activities (such as shipping, pollution, and fishing) minimally impact them.

The raise in plastic pollution from rivers, the chemicals coming from poorly controlled by industry, and nutrients runoff from fertilizers have all threatened ocean life. These factors are so widespread and the most difficult things to manage.

No films suffer from uncertainty the way X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants have. With Disney-FOX merger looming on the horizon, the fate of both movies becomes a subject of much debate: what would become of them once the two companies come together. However, recent development hints at FOXs plan on scrapping both off their respective release dates. The reason behind this is said to be that the two suffered from irreparable damage.

Some of FOXs moves have been stellar (both Deadpool and Logan enjoyed success upon their release). But the rest have been lukewarm at best. Apocalypse was a decrease in quality from its predecessor, Days of Future Past. The Fantastic Four reboot in 2015 was an utter disaster. Now, the two planned movies show indications that they are the next in line to cause FOX more losses. TNM initially received an early 2018 release and a trailer has even been released in 2017. FOX had another thought about the final product, deeming it unwatchable and boring.

Several images of first look from the production of X-Men: Dark Phoenix had also been released and for some time it looks as if it is more than apparent that the movie will release eventually. The three features are the largest battery, the largest storage, and the fastest performance. The ambitious Galaxy Note 9 is said to come with the hugest battery capacity within the company’s line of smartphone. With a battery of 4,000 mAh capacity, it would also become Note 9’s biggest selling point. Samsung has already confirmed this feature and it is no longer a secret for quite some time. Some other groundbreaking features might receive the axe but this one about the phone’s battery would likely stay onboard.

A second teaser for the Galaxy Note 9 reveals that the phone will come with the largest storage. With this feature Samsung presents its most significant change in recent years. Samsung did include as much capacity as they can on their phones but a change made in 2015 changed everything into only covering the bases and forced users to rely so much on microSD expansion slot. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is claimed to come with world-first 512 GB capacity and an expansion slot that supports up to 1 TB. With this big of capacity, the phone is clearly on its way into becoming the king of storage in smartphones.

The last teaser reveals the performance of the Galaxy Note 9. Note 9 will be the first Galaxy phone sold with a RAM of 8 GB. OnePlus, a maker from China, has previously released a handset with the same amount of RAM. But for Samsung, this is a new benchmark. Note 9 is said to increase its functionality with the inclusion of new and redesigned S Pen and to support this, the phone will have work with a lot of memory. And that is exactly what it will receive. With all the teasers released by Samsung for months now, one thing remains the same. The price of Note 9 increases significantly whereas its design remains relatively similar to its predecessors.
